CHARLES, MICHAEL Joseph of Cocoyea Village went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2016, while receiving medical treatment and visiting with family in the United States. Son of Lewis and Zena Charles (deceased), he was a long-time resident of San Fernando. He attended Naparima Boys High School, Howard University in Washington, DC, and Engineering Graduate School at Pennsylvania State University.
He established his family and early career with Proctor & Gamble in the US. He later returned to his beloved Trinidad with his family. His Engineering career in Trinidad included stints with Fertrin, Lever Brothers, and, his personally owned Engineering Consultancy, CTS working with many local firms, concluding with Kiss Baking Company.
His memory will be lovingly cherished by his devoted family Wife Margaret and their four children: Jon Charles, Michelle Charles-Brown, Monette Charles-Smith, and Michael Joseph Charles II (Joey); nine Grandchildren Jona, Brodie, Mikaila, Mike, Grace, Jordan, Michael III, Micah, and Ava; Siblings Arthur Johnson, Pearl Charles-Gopie, Merle Charles-Rivas; including inlaws, and a host of relatives, coworkers, and friends.
A Memorial Service commemorating the life and legacy of Michael Joseph Charles will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Church of the Open Bible in San Fernando.
